Hi — I'm Jason. I built Credo because I wanted my own kids to be able to pray the Mass in the language the Church has used for sixteen centuries, and because I couldn't find a single Latin app that started from devotion instead of grammar drills. So I made one.

Before Credo I founded Cloudmetrx, a quantitative trading analytics platform acquired in 2013 (its tooling is still deployed at several major trading firms). After that I founded Routefire, a smart-order-routing engine for crypto, acquired by Coinbase in 2021, where I stayed on as an engineering leader through the IPO and beyond.

I hold an A.B. in Computer Science from Dartmouth College. I live in Miami with my family and attend the Latin Mass on Sundays. The most important things in my life are, in order: the Lord, my wife, our children, and the work of helping other Catholics encounter the inheritance of the Church.

Why Credo exists

Latin has been the language of the Roman Rite for about as long as there has been a Roman Rite. The Mass, the Vulgate, a thousand years of theology, every great hymn from Adoro te devote to Veni Creator Spiritus — it's all in Latin. And for most of the last sixty years, almost no Catholic under fifty has been taught any.

The reason isn't that Latin is hard. (It isn't, for most people, if you're not trying to memorize declension tables in a vacuum.) The reason is that the way Latin gets taught — when it gets taught at all — has nothing to do with the way human beings actually learn languages. Read the Credo Method for the long version.

Credo is a small step toward fixing that. It teaches Latin the way children learn languages and the way Lingua Latina per se illustrata taught generations of classicists — by giving you Latin that you can immediately understand, in a context that means something to you. For a Catholic, the prayers of the Church are exactly that context.
